Fiscal Year 2017 CACFP & SFSP Area Eligibility Data now available
CACFP and SFSP Area Eligibility using Census Data
For more information about using census data for establishing area eligibility for CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) and SFSP (Summer Food Service Program), please see our policy memo available at this link.
At the start of every fiscal year, October 1, FNS releases the Census Bureau special tabulation, specifically requested for CACFP and SFSP, that establishes area eligibility in the CACFP and SFSP. These data are effective October 1.
The FNS mapping tools will be updated around October 1 and more information can be found at this link. Our partners, FRAC and Share our Strength will also be updating their mapping tools around this time as well. There will be a webinar discussing mapping tools, please find more information below!
NEW: Open Data Portal NEW this year - the CACFP SFSP area eligibility data can be viewed, filtered and downloaded in a variety of formats, and at any time, through our Open Data Portal. Please be aware of the long download times, due to the large file size.

Description: Please join the FNS National Office, FRAC and Share Our Strength as they demonstrate the suite of mapping (GIS) tools built for both SFSP and CACFP participants, operators, partners and State agencies. Webinar participants will also learn how to access these tools and data as well as be given strategies for analyzing these data. This session will include the lessons learned about development of the tools and time for questions.
